A ton of vegetables!
The Master Gardeners donated 2,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to the Monument Crisis Center for distribution to families.
High nutrient produce, including tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, potatoes, corn, summer squash, winter squash, basil, shallots, garlic, and lemons were donated. The produce was grown at Our Garden, a demonstration garden at the Contra Costa Times. It was harvested every Wednesday morning and was in the kitchen of Monument families by afternoon.
